Fast Favorites // Making Mom Life Easier

Hey y'all! Today I wanted to share some of my favorites that make mom life a little easier; "fast favorites" if you will. As much as I would like to spend more time on these things, mom life doesn't always allow for it. So, on those extremely crazy days (which, if I am being honest, are most days) I turn to my quick fixes to make it look like I semi have it together!

Fast Recipe

Can I be embarrassingly honest real quick? An actual cooked dinner doesn't really happen here most days. Three kids is kinda crazy. And dinner time is the hardest part of the day! So most nights end up being a hodge-podge of what's in the fridge or scrambled eggs (thanks to our backyard chickens). Add this to my list of momfessions. I really do want to get back in the habit of cooking dinner though...once there's not a cute little crawling baby pulling on my leg and crying the whole time. When I do actually manage to cook, I love doing a one pan meal. Especially when our vegetable garden takes off. I love roasted veggies. Add in some meat and you have a well balanced meal that even the kids love. Gimme Delicious Food has an easy to follow recipe if you want to try it out!

Quick Outfit

To me, jeans = dressed up. I like to live in stretchy pants of some sort on most days since I go between sitting in carpool, chasing a baby, and being drooled on. Ain't nobody got time for discomfort. Thank the sweet Lord Jesus for whoever invented boyfriend jeans. They are jeans that don't suffocate and squeeze your legs. Anytime I want to look a little more put together - on days where I have to go to an appointment or into some other form of public space where leggings as pants may not be the best option, boyfriend jeans with a cute "t-shirt" are my go-to. I love to keep a flannel around my waist in the fall for a pop of color and in case it actually gets cold. Otherwise I'm all about a half-tuck. It looks a little bit more put together without looking like you tried too hard. And that's the whole point, right?

Fast Workout

My current favorite workout is taking the kids for a walk! It's starting to not feel like complete death outside, so we have been going most mornings after we drop Porter off, or I can take both on Fridays when Evan is at school. It's not necessarily super quick, but you can make it as long or fast as you want. And the baby is strapped in a stroller so you don't have to worry about him discovering every small toy on the floor or the electric outlets. I also shared a ton of my favorite workouts in a past post, but Popsugar is probably where I head first when I know I need to find something quick and effective. I love that you can search by time. This one is one of my go-tos.

Quick Hair/Make-up

To be honest, my hair is pulled back in a ponytail or messy bun most days. Gibson is super into trying to rip all of my hair out when it's down, so that's a ton of fun. But on days where I want to not look like a total hot mess, but also don't really want to try - the half bun comes to the rescue. It just gives me a little "somethin" and I don't even have to bother with the bottom half of my hair because it's supposed to look a little messy.

A full face of makeup maybe happens once a week. Maybe. And by full face I mean like more than two products (you know it's getting real if I put on eyeliner). I do, however, have a hard time venturing into public without my eyebrows filled in. Yes, I'm that girl. It just makes such a difference (for me at least). So some days I'll start with my Beautycounter Tint Skin foundation in Linen, and some days I'll just go straight to brows and lashes if my skin is looking ok. I use Beautycounter's color define brown pencil in dark, and the lengthening mascara. Doing just those two things immediately makes me feel more put together.

On-the-Go Snack

Animal Crackers? Ha! While some days this is sadly true, my favorite snacks to pack on-the-go are Larabars. All clean ingredients (usually 5 or under total), and delicious. My favorites are Apple Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! I pretty regularly throw a banana in my bag if I know I'm going to be out and about for a while.

What are your "fast favorites" or quick fixes? Let me know in the comments! I hope y'all have a great weekend!
