Hey y’all! We hope that y’all had a great week. We actually had some BEAUTIFUL weather for the majority of the week (spoiler alert: it didn’t last, but the weather people tell us it’s coming back)! For Friday Favorites this week, we wanted to share some of our favorites that make mom life a little easier; fast favorites if you will. As much as we’d like to spend more time on these things, mom life doesn’t always allow for it. So, on those extremely crazy days (which, if we are being honest, are most days) we turn to our quick fixes to make it look like we semi have it together!

Can I be embarrassingly honest real quick? An actual cooked dinner doesn’t really happen here most days. Three kids is kinda crazy. And dinner time is the hardest part of the day! So most nights end up being a hodge-podge of what’s in the fridge or scrambled eggs (thanks to our backyard chickens). Add this to my list of momfessions. I really do want to get back in the habit of cooking dinner though…once there’s not a cute little crawling baby pulling on my leg and crying the whole time. When I do actually manage to cook, I love doing a one pan meal. Especially when our vegetable garden takes off. I love roasted veggies. Add in some meat and you have a well balanced meal that even the kids love. Gimme Delicious Food has an easy to follow recipe if you want to try it out!

One of my favorite quick and easy (but it looks, smells, and tastes like you spent hours on it) is this shrimp scampi recipe. It’s from one of our fellow bloggers, Grace Allen. I could honestly write a whole blog post on my favorite bloggers to follow and why; Grace would definitely be on there. I will save that for another day, but go check her out if you don’t already follow her. She’s extremely real and transparent and has an absolutely beautiful little fam! Also, make the shrimp scampi if you’re a seafood lover; it’s one of those comfort foods that you just need every now and then.
To me, jeans = dressed up. I like to live in stretchy pants of some sort on most days since I go between sitting in carpool, chasing a baby, and being drooled on. Ain’t nobody got time for discomfort. Thank the sweet Lord Jesus for whoever invented boyfriend jeans. They are jeans that don’t suffocate and squeeze your legs. Anytime I want to look a little more put together – on days where I have to go to an appointment or into some other form of public space where leggings as pants may not be the best option, boyfriend jeans with a cute “t-shirt” are my go-to. I love to keep a flannel around my waist in the fall for a pop of color and in case it actually gets cold. Otherwise I’m all about a half-tuck. It looks a little bit more put together without looking like you tried too hard. And that’s the whole point, right?
Please take note of the belly button. It has popped!
Comfort and practicality are the name of the game when it comes to everyday mom outfits; especially at eight months pregnant. Don’t get me wrong, I love to get dolled up for a date night or girls’ night, but for my typical day
chasing waddling after two little boys I need something that moves with me. Also, most mornings I don’t have time to think about what I am going to wear as I am herding the boys out the door for preschool, errands, or my prenatal appointments. So, my favorite maternity leggings, a maternity shirt, and either my trainers or adidas are what gets thrown on. Stay tuned for a maternity style post coming soon (it’s more than maternity leggings, I promise).
My current favorite workout is taking the kids for a walk! It’s starting to not feel like complete death outside, so we have been going most mornings after we drop Porter off, or I can take both on Fridays when Evan is at school. It’s not necessarily super quick, but you can make it as long or fast as you want. And the baby is strapped in a stroller so you don’t have to worry about him discovering every small toy on the floor or the electric outlets. We also shared a ton of our favorite workouts in a past post, but Popsugar is probably where I head first when I know I need to find something quick and effective. I love that you can search by time. This one is one of my go-tos.
What is a workout? Joking…sort of. I’m having to take it easy per my doctor’s orders in the exercise department these days, so I’m doing a lot of stretching/yoga. Between the prenatal yoga workouts on aaptiv, walks, and chasing after a three year old and an eighteen month old, I’m getting in a fair amount of workouts these days.
To be honest, my hair is pulled back in a ponytail or messy bun most days. Gibson is super into trying to rip all of my hair out when it’s down, so that’s a ton of fun. But on days where I want to not look like a total hot mess, but also don’t really want to try – the half bun comes to the rescue. It just gives me a little “somethin” and I don’t even have to bother with the bottom half of my hair because it’s supposed to look a little messy.
A full face of makeup maybe happens once a week. Maybe. And by full face I mean like 2 or three more products than pictured above (you know it’s getting real if I put on eyeliner). I do, however, have a hard time venturing into public without my eyebrows filled in. Yes, I’m that girl. It just makes such a difference (for me at least). So some days I’ll start with my Beautycounter Tint Skin foundation in Linen, and some days I’ll just go straight to brows and lashes if my skin is looking ok. I use Beautycounter’s color define brown pencil in dark, and the lengthening mascara. Doing just those two things immediately makes me feel more put together.
My hair is either down (straight or wavy) or up in top knot or braid; I do not know how to do hair! My hair is naturally wavy and fine, but there is a TON of it so it takes forever to straighten/style. Most of the time, you’ll find me sporting it wavy because I just don’t have the energy lately to spend 45 minutes blow drying and straightening or curling my mane!
As for makeup, these three are my everyday, make-me-look-a-little-less-mombie go to’s. I love that all of these are safe (super important to me during pregnancy) while still being high quality. On date nights or even days where I have a little more time, I will add a few more products to round out the look, but these cover my basic makeup needs when I’m doing mom things; Beautycounter lip gloss in Bellini, Beautycounter tint skin in linen, and Beautycounter volumizing mascara.

Animal Crackers? Ha! While some days this is sadly true, my favorite snacks to pack on-the-go are Larabars. All clean ingredients (usually 5 or under total), and delicious. My favorites are Apple Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! I pretty regularly throw a banana in my bag if I know I’m going to be out and about for a while.
I promise I’m craving these like crazy right now and not just saying it because it’s healthy, but apples; specifically honey crisp apples . I can’t get enough of them. Also, Kind bars; mainly the dark chocolate almond and the granola bars. I always have one or both of these “on-the-go snacks” in my bag.
